A Derby Lodge founded in November of 1926, a year of contrasts
In May of that year there was a General Strike, involving over a million workers from many industries. It brought the country to a standstill for nine days and changed labour relations forever.
At that time, silent films were giving way to the 'talkies', and the year as a whole is remembered as part of the 'Roaring Twenties'. After the austerity caused by the First World War, the mass production of washing machines, refrigerators and cars, together with the ease of travel for everyone (represented by our Lodge banner) made life so much more exciting.

About the Lodge
Friendship, tradition and varied interests
Unity Lodge has a varied membership and welcomes a broad range of brethren, from those in their 20s to those in their 80s. Our members include serving members of the Armed Forces, as well as people working in the IT industry, the NHS, education, retail, service industries, self-employment, building trades and engineering.

Membership informationMeetings
Our evening meetings are held on the second Friday of each month from October to June. We do not meet in July, August or September, allowing members to spend time with their families during the school holidays.

Unity Lodge’s origins in the Roaring Twenties, through the austerity of the Great Depression and the terrors of the Second World War in 1939, Unity Lodge has continued to adapt and move with the times.

What happens at a Lodge meeting?
What do we do?
Our meetings include Lodge business, traditional ceremonies and time for friendship and socialising. They provide an opportunity for members to support charity, reflect on shared values and enjoy good company.
After the formal meeting, members and visitors usually dine together at the Festive Board. Politics and religion are not discussed in Lodge. Can i become a member?how to apply?
